Rod Wortley

After 24 seasons as Cornerstone's Cross Country Coach and 22 years in Track & Field, Wortley enters the 2019-20 school year in his second year as the Director of Cross Country and Track & Field. Since 1996 he has built a nationally recognized program producing the best runners jumpers and throwers in school history.

In 40 consecutive NAIA Indoor and Outdoor National Championships, and 17 in Cross Country, 100 Golden Eagle athletes have earned All-America honors 269 times along with over 50 All-America Scholar Athlete awards. At the conference level, his athletes have won 217 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference event titles and eight Team Championships.

Wortley was named NAIA Region VII and VIII Track & Field Coach of the Year for women in 2001,2004 and 2005 and for men in 2003. He has also been selected as WHAC Coach of the Year seven times for Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field. He a past President of the NAIA Cross Country Coaches Association and Chairs the Ratings Committee. He has also served as the Chair of the Outdoor Championships Games Committee and been Head Field Event Referee at four NAIA Championship Meets.

Wortley graduated from Cornerstone in 1988 with a B.A. in English literature. He completed his Master's Degree in English/professional writing at Western Michigan University in 1992. He also holds three U.S.A. Track & Field Level II coaching certifications. His wife, Anita, is also a Cornerstone alumna. They have two children.
