GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After falling to Siena Heights in five sets on the road in the first meeting of the season, the Cornerstone volleyball team returned home to Mol Arena and posted a sweep over the Saints on Wednesday night. The 25-18, 25-23, 25-19 victory lifts head coach Ryan Campbell and his team to 19-8 on the season and 10-6 in league play. CU will host the Aquinas/Cornerstone Classic this weekend in which they will play four matches in two days.
LIMA, Ohio – Cornerstone played their first of three crossovers in league play on Saturday and they came away with a perfect 2-0 mark as they defeated Marygrove College and Lawrence Tech. The two victories lift head coach Ryan Campbell and his team to 18-8 on the season and 9-6 in league play. CU will have five home matches next week beginning Wednesday against Siena Heights at 7 p.m.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Junior Chelsea Lake (JR/Lake Odessa, Mich.) finished with a double-double of 15 kills and 20 digs but it was not enough for the Golden Eagles to pull the upset of No. 16 Madonna on Wednesday night. The visiting Crusaders took the first, third and fourth sets to close out the win and drop Cornerstone to 16-8 overall and 7-6 in league play. The Golden Eagles will resume play on Saturday when they face Lawrence Tech and Marygrove in a crossover hosted by UNOH.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone led late in each of the first two sets but was unable to close out the host Saints as Aquinas won those two and the fourth to claim the WHAC match 3-1. The Golden Eagles fell 25-21, 26-24, 19-25, 25-20 to fall to 16-7 on the year and 7-5 in league play. CU will have a week off before their next match at home against No. 18 Madonna University.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – For the second straight day, the Cornerstone Volleyball team did not allow its opponent to not only win a set, but even get above the 15-point mark one time. CU posted a convincing 3-0 sweep of host Concordia on Saturday winning 25-11, 25-15, 25-14. The win improves the Golden Eagles to 16-6 on the year and 7-4 in league play as they will start the second half of round-robin next Wednesday at Aquinas at 7 p.m.
