Sat, Nov. 1, 2014
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The men's soccer team entered Saturday night needing a win to keep their season alive and Garrett Nimmo (SO/Livonia, Mich.)'s goal just 1:04 into overtime did just that as the Golden Eagles defeated Indiana Tech 1-0. Cornerstone improves to 6-11-1 and 3-6-1 in league play to finish in a tie for 8th. CU owns the tie-breaker over UM-Dearborn and will begin the conference tourney next Saturday at No. 1 seed Northwestern Ohio.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Head men's soccer coach Mark Bell is pleased to announce the signing of eight student-athletes for the 2015 recruiting class. The eight newcomers come from around the world including one from nearby Holland, Mich. Other locations for the incoming athletes are Dominican Republic, Germany, Philippines, Thailand and Canada. They will join the Golden Eagles this fall.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Danish football club Roshoj Boldklub announced that it has signed Cornerstone Men's Soccer Alum, Jordan Wilson. The announcement came last week after Wilson had trained with the club for a few weeks. Wilson was a 4-time All-WHAC performer for the Golden Eagles from 2009-13.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced its Daktronics Scholar-Athlete Teams on Friday and Cornerstone placed two from the men's soccer team under head coach Mark Bell. Senior Nick Manzer (SR/Petoskey, Mich.) was joined by junior Blake Groll (JR/Kentwood, Mich.) after leading CU to a 6-12-1 campaign in 2014
LIMA, Ohio – The first time Cornerstone and UNOH met, the host Racers posted a 6-0 win but on Saturday, the Golden Eagles gave the home team everything they could handle in an eventual 2-1 loss. The setback ends the 2014 campaign for head coach Mark Bell and his team as they conclude the season 6-12-1.
