10/29/2014 - Women's Basketball

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Head coach Katie Mattera and her team are just one week away from tipping off the 2014-15 campaign with a matchup against No. 1 ranked and defending national champions Saint Francis (Ind.). Next week, we will preview the team in an interview with Coach Mattera as she heads into season number three on the bench for the Golden Eagles. 

 
10/10/2014 - Women's Basketball

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Head coach Katie Mattera and the women's basketball team has been picked third by the league coaches in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference preseason poll. Mattera and her team are fresh off a 22-10 campaign that saw them earn a berth in the NAIA National Tournament. CU opens the 2014-15 season on November 5 at defending national champion St. Francis (Ind.).

 
08/24/2014 - Women's Basketball

Cornerstone University and the Golden Eagle Women's Basketball program would like to welcome Taryn Sack to the 2014-2015 roster.  Taryn is a 5-7 guard from Grand Rapids South Christian High School.

During Taryn's senior year at South Christian she helped lead her team to a 26-1 record and a berth in the Class B State Finals.  Sack was the starting point guard, averaging 5 points per game and led her team with 3 assists per game.  She also served her team as team captain.

Also during her senior year, Taryn was named to the OK Gold Honorable Mention All-conference team, Advance Newspaper All-Area Honorable Mention team, and was ranked second free throw shooter in the Grand Rapids area.  Sack was honored as the OK Conference Scholar Athlete with a 3.65 GPA.  Taryn was also a finalist for the West Michigan Officials Association Dan Nameth Sportsmanship Award.

Taryn served as a Chapel leader and also a Bible study group leader.

08/24/2014 - Women's Basketball

Cornerstone University Women's Basketball would like to welcome Mya Udell to the program.  Mya signed a letter of intent to be a Golden Eagle for the 2014-2015 roster.   Udell is a 5-7 Guard from Ada, Mich.

Mya is a three sport athlete for Forest Hills Central High School, receiving varsity letters for volleyball, basketball and also softball.  She was named to the OK White All Conference team for all three sports also. 

During her senior year, Mya scored a total 243 points and grabbed a total of 122 rebounds.  Mya was named Forest Hills Central's 2013-2014 Female Athlete of the Year.

"I am extremely excited to have Mya a part of our program.  She attended many of our games, and has been around our team for a couple years now, I am happy that she is officially part of our family!  Mya is a strong competitor that can shoot outside, but also defend the paint and rebound very well.  While I was recruiting Mya, I loved watching her play because she worked extremely hard, and never gave up or put her head down.  I know Mya will set a huge example for our team!"

 
06/06/2014 - Women's Basketball

Head Coach Katie Mattera and the Golden Eagles Women's Basketball program would like to welcome Ellery Mast to the 2014-2015 roster.  Ellery is a 6'0 Forward from Holland Christian High School.

During Ellery's Senior year at Holland Christian she scored a total of 204 points, grabbed a total of 131 rebounds, and stole the ball 34 times.  Ellery was named to the OK Green All- Conference team both her Junior and Senior years at Holland Christian.  Ellery also was named to the All State Honorable Mention team during her senior year.   Mast achieved a 3.8 GPA, and won the National Scholar Athlete Award for Holland Christian.

"Ellery is a true athlete.  She is a very versatile player, as she can play inside and also has a very aggressive drive from the wing.  She plays both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor very well.  Ellery will be a great asset to our team's fast break as she runs the floor and finishes around the basket very well.  I am so excited to work with Ellery and help her reach her athletic goals."
