"I'm very excited to announce Jeff DeGroot as our Women's Head Golf Coach," stated Grube.  "Jeff brings a wealth of experience as a golf instructor and coach.  I have no doubt that Jeff's experience and his love for Christ will enable him to recruit talented golfers to Cornerstone and take our program to the next level."

Before entering the coaching scene, DeGroot attended GRCC & Davenport University here in Grand Rapids.  The Wyoming, Mich., native was the PGA Head Professional at private and resort courses here in Michigan for 10-years before heading to Grand Valley State University.

From 2002-04, DeGroot was the Lecture Instructor in "Coaching Theories" at GVSU while also serving as the Women's Golf Team Swing Coach.  He implemented off-season training programs customized to each athlete which led to the GVSU's Women's Team finishing as National Runner-up in NCAA Division II.

DeGroot was quickly picked up by ESPN that year after GVSU's performance and was hired as the Mid-West's Lead Instructor under Hank Haney with ESPN's Golf Schools until 2010. There Jeff was named one of six Lead ESPN Instructors of 72 PGA traveling professionals for ESPN teaching groups throughout the United States and was voted by ESPN as a top 10 Teacher.  While working for Haney, DeGroot was selected to provide short game video tips and instructions for the ESPN website.

DeGroot commented on his coaching philosophy, "As a follower of Christ, I expect the student athlete to uphold the tradition and excellence that is to be expected as it pertains to everyday life and their community while contributing as a team family member.  We can only succeed when we have a goal of becoming everything that is within our reach and applying our best efforts with that in mind."

"I enjoy seeing student athletes grow in: faith, academics and as a team member with leadership qualities developing the character that parents can be proud of with the help of Cornerstone and it's staff nourishing each individual towards their goals," commented DeGroot."
