GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Cornerstone women's tennis team was unable to overcome a strong start by Huntington on Friday night as they fell to the Foresters 9-0 in non-league action. HU posted six wins in singles and then followed it by sweeping the doubles to send Cornerstone to their second loss of the season. CU will host Olivet Nazarene on Saturday at MVP Sportsplex.
MISHSWAKA, Ind. - After seeing their morning match with Goshen rained out the women's tennis team did get the second match in as they fell to the Bethel College Pilots in their season opener. Head coach Dan Erickson and his team fell by the score of 9-0 as they will host both Huntington University and Olivet Nazarene this weekend.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the men's and women tennis 2015 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Cornerstone placed one male, Chris Selva (SR/Romeo, Mich.) and a pair of females, Allison Rusticus (SR/Byron Center, Mich.) and Janie Silvers (SR/Cadillac, Mich.) on the two lists. The Golden Eagles recently completed their seasons in the WHAC Tournament.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference announced their postseason honors for tennis this week and the men's team had four different players recognized for their play in double for the 2014-15 campaign. Austin Hunt (JR/Odessa, Texas.) and Elijah Yi (JR/Dallas, Texas) made First Team while Austin Hendrick (FR/Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Sam Ottosen (FR/Cairns, AUS) were each placed on the Honorable Mention Team.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Cornerstone women's tennis team concluded their 2014-15 campaign on Friday afternoon with a 5-0 setback to Indiana Tech in the conference tournament quarterfinals. The loss came after the Golden Eagles posted a fourth place finish during the regular season.
