GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The up and down season for the Cornerstone Volleyball team was in full view on Friday night as they saw their season come to a close with a 5-set loss to cross-town foe Aquinas College. CU dropped the first set, before rallying to take a 2-1 lead only to see the Saints come back and win the final two to move on to the WHAC semifinals on Saturday. CU ends their season at 27-11 overall.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The volleyball team opens their run at the WHAC Tournament this evening against Aquinas and before the match, five different Golden Eagles will received recognition from the conference. Headlining the post-season awards is senior Cailie Schultz (SR/Rockford, Mich.) who was named First Team All-WHAC. She was one of 14 players from the 12 member schools to be voted onto the top team.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – In the final of three WHAC Crossovers, the Cornerstone Volleyball team picked up a pair of wins over Indiana Tech and Concordia all while celebrating the final home matches for its two seniors Libby Webber (SR/Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Cailie Schultz (SR/Rockford, Mich.). The two victories lift the Golden Eagles to 27-10 on the year as they secured the fifth seed in the upcoming WHAC Tournament to be played at Davenport next weekend.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Capital One Academic All-District Volleyball Team was announce by CoSIDA Thursday afternoon and senior Cailie Schultz (SR/Rockford, Mich.) earned the nod after being voted in by Sports Information Directors from District 1 that includes 21 states as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The middle hitter currently leads the Golden Eagles in attack percentage and is second in kills and will finish her home career Saturday against Indiana Tech and Concordia.
LIMA Ohio – With just three matches remaining in the regular season, the Cornerstone Volleyball team continues to jockey for positioning in the upcoming WHAC Tournament. Head coach Ryan Campbell and his team made a big statement today by taking down the Racers of Northwestern Ohio in five sets on the road. The victory lifts CU to 25-10 on the year and 12-8 in league play. CU wraps up play Saturday when they host Indiana Tech and Concordia.
