GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The second annual Champions of Character College All-Star basketball games are set for Wednesday, March 25 at Davenport University's Student Center. The national championship Cornerstone men's basketball team will be represented by Ty Mason (SR/Comstock Park, Mich.) and Justin Pepper (SR/Wayland, Mich.) while the women's team will see Jill Hendrickson (JR/Ada, Mich.) and Ashley Niedermayer (SR/Lincolnshire, Ill) suit up one more time. Game times are 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Cornerstone University community will come together on Monday, March 23 to celebrate the 2015 NAIA DII Men's Basketball National Champions. The event will be held inside the Hansen Athletic Center beginning at 7 p.m. and all students, staff, faculty and community are invited. The team will be recognized as well as raise the newest championship banner to the Mol Arena rafters.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced their post-season honors for men's basketball on Wednesday and Cornerstone's Kyle Steigenga (FR/Holland, Mich.) was named a First Team All-American, Ben Lanning (JR/Grandville, Mich.) a Third Team honoree while Kim Elders was named the NABC/NAIA National Coach of the Year.
POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. – Cornerstone University claimed its third ever NAIA DII National Championship on Tuesday night with a 66-45 win over No. 5 Dakota Wesleyan University (S.D.). The title is the second in the last five years as the Golden Eagles finish their season with a 33-5 overall record. Kyle Steigenga (FR/Holland, Mich.) was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player and he was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Ben Lanning (JR/Grandville, Mich.) and Travis Wells (JR/Eaton Rapids, Mich.).
POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. – After picking up a 91-81 win over No. 2 Embry Riddle (Fla.) on Monday night, the No. 2 ranked Golden Eagles will play No. 5 Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) on Tuesday evening for the 2015 NAIA DII Men's Basketball National Championship. ESPN 3 will carry the game live on television while Andy Smith and Aaron Sagraves will have the call on the Golden Eagle Sports Network.
