PIERSON, Mich. – The final event of the 2014-15 men's golf season is in the books as Cornerstone places sixth out of eight varsity teams in the annual Knight Invite hosted by Calvin College at Pilgrim's Run Golf Club. The Golden Eagles posted a 334 team score as GRCC had the best overall score of 316 with Calvin winning the varsity team event with a 317.
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The final day of the 2015 WHAC Championships saw higher scores across the board and the Golden Eagles fell one spot from the opening 36-holes to place seventh out of 11 teams. Tyler Coyne (JR/Auburn Hills, Mich.), the overnight leader for the event, concluded the 54-hole tourney with a tie for fourth. Davenport took the team title while Jorge Benitez repeated as the WHAC individual champion.
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Cornerstone's Tyler Coyne (JR/Auburn Hills, Mich.) leads the individual field at the 2015 WHAC Championships as the junior fired a 1-under par 143 (74-69) at Coyote Creek Golf Club. The Golden Eagles sit in sixth place as a team as they posted rounds of 318 and 301. Day two will start with an 8:30 shotgun with Davenport leading the way by 23 shots.
HOLLAND, Mich. – The final preparations for the 2015 WHAC Championships came Tuesday as the men's golf team posted a second place finish at the annual Furniture City Classic. The Golden Eagles finished with a team score of 326 while the Panthers of Davenport took the title with a 299. CU bested Calvin by nine and the host school, Hope College, by 11. The Golden Eagles will be in action next on April 16-17 at the WHAC Championships in Indiana.
AUGUSTA, Mich. – The final round of the Shootout at Stonehedge did not see much movement for any of the teams and that was the same for Cornerstone as they claimed sixth in the 36-hole event hosted by Lawrence Tech. The Golden Eagles posted a 326 team score on day two finish eight shots out of the Top-5. CU will play again on Tuesday in the Furniture City Classic hosted by Hope College.
