07/18/2014 - Men's Basketball

Kevin T. Wickliffe, 41, passed away suddenly in Santa Clara, California on the morning of July 13, 2014. Kevin was born on January 31, 1973 at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan to Betty Ann Wickliffe. Raised in both Royal Oak Township, and the city of Royal Oak, Michigan, he graduated from Kimball High School in 1991 and Cornerstone University in 1996. Kevin was in awe of his children. He delighted in their wit, humor, laughter, and hard work ethic. He was overcome with joy and pride at the recent graduation of Daryenne from Cal Poly University. He was equally proud of Jase's creativity and hard work in school and on the basketball court. He loved to watch Daryenne run track and Jase play basketball. Kevin was a lifelong learner and lover of words. Always reading, trying to improve, and looking for the perfect words to convey his humor, thoughts, and stories. Basketball was a passion that Kevin carried through his lifetime. Kevin scored 1,531 points during his basketball career at Cornerstone. He was the JV coach at Wilcox High School in Santa Clara for the past four years. He was proud of all his players, especially when they executed their "lemons" play. They won league last season. Kevin was constantly studying, teaching, and talking about the game. He was also an avid golfer. If you met Kevin, you remembered him. Outspoken and quick to joke, he had a booming and infectious laugh. Kevin is survived by his children, Daryenne Ann Elyzabeth and Jase Rand; his wife of many years, Sonya; Uncle Roy Wickliffe (Diane), his beloved Aunt Ossie Dixon (Jollie), Uncle Lamont Wickliffe (Diedre); cousins: Roy, Regina, Steven; his in-laws Larry and Esther LeFebre, and a host of cousins and relatives. Kevin was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Ann and his beloved grandmother, Ernestine Wickliffe. For those who knew and loved Kevin, the best way to honor his memory is to never stop seeking, learning, and improving. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 18, 2014 from 5-9 p.m. at Bowers Park Building, 2585 Cabrillo Avenue, Santa Clara, CA 95051. Please come to the memorial service and share your memories. The family requests that in lieu of flowers; send donations to the Boys and Girls Club of Silicon Valley.
