GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Tristan Esprit (SR/Toronto, Ontario) scored on a free kick in the 17' but it was not enough for the Golden Eagles in their upset bid of No. 4 Davenport. The visiting Panthers scored the equalizer in the first half and followed with the game winner as CU played a man down in the second to escape with the win. The loss drops Cornerstone to 4-10-1 on the season and 2-5-1 in league play. CU will host Marygrove on Saturday at 7 p.m.
BRIGHTON, Mich. – Caleb Colp (FR/Stevensville, Mich.) scored a pair of goals and Nick Hopkins (SO/Ada, Mich.) finished with his fourth shutout of the season in net as the duo led the Golden Eagles to a 3-0 win at UM-Dearborn on Saturday afternoon. The victory, which is the first in the last five matches, lifts CU to 4-9-1 on the season and 2-4-1 in league play. Cornerstone will host No. 1 Davenport on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – In an important week with postseason implications on the line, the men's soccer team was unable to overcome a fast start by the host Lawrence Tech Blue Devils as they fell 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon. The loss drops the Golden Eagles to 3-9-1 on the season and 1-4-1 in league action. CU will return to play on Saturday when they complete the final of a 4-match road swing at UM-Dearborn.
LIMA Ohio – The men's soccer team ran into a buzz-saw on Saturday afternoon as the host UNOH Racers handed the Golden Eagles a 6-0 setback. The Racers scored three times in each half to drop Cornerstone to 3-8-1 on the year and 1-3-1 in WHAC play. CU will return to action on Wednesday, October 22 when they face Lawrence Tech in Southfield.
LIVONIA, Mich. – The men's soccer team scored the first goal early in the second half but the host Crusaders of Madonna University tied it up shortly after and then got a late goal which was the difference in a 2-1 setback for the Golden Eagles. The loss drops Cornerstone to 3-7-1 on the year and 1-2-1 in league play. They will play their second straight road match on Saturday when they travel to Lima, Ohio to face No. 19 Northwestern Ohio.
