GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagle cross country teams took home the top individual honors this week from the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference as Julie Oosterhouse and Kevin Vroegh each were named the Runners of the Week. Both helped their teams to solid finishes in the Augustana Brissman/Lundeen Invitational.
(Grand Rapids, Mich.) Cornerstone senior, Louis Falland cruised to a convincing win at the Knight Invitational hosted by Calvin College. The only real drama in the race came when the lead vehicle got stuck twice and required the help of spectators to get it moving before the runners caught up.
Senior, Jared Holmberg paced a pair of freshmen. Holmburg placed 87th in 27:22 with Kevin Vroegh (98th / 27:30) and Brent Dunn (109th / 27:39) close behind. Sophomore, Jacob Benson completed the team scoring taking 156th in 28:19.
Calvin won with 55 points ahead of two top ranked NAIA teams – St. Francis (Ill) with 79 and Aquinas at 109. Cornerstone took eleventh with 303 points.
