GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Current Cornerstone student and future Golden Eagle volleyball player Jennifer Vander Meer will travel to the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, February 20-22, to try out for the U.S. Women's National Team and the U.S. Collegiate National Team. She is one of over 200 athletes from around the country from 90 different colleges and universities to have the chance at making the team.
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its women's volleyball All-America teams for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), as selected by the NAIA Volleyball All-America Selection Committee. Cornerstone senior Cailie Schultz (SR/Rockford, Mich.) was named to the Honorable Mention team after leading the Golden Eagles to a 27-11 record this past season.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Friday that 455 volleyball student-athletes have been named 2014 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. The Cornerstone Volleyball team landed a pair of those in seniors Cailie Schultz (SR/Rockford, Mich.) and Libby Webber (SR/Grand Rapids, Mich.).
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – For the third time in her career, Cailie Schultz (SR/Rockford, Mich.) has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region First Team. The announcement was made on Thursday afternoon as Schultz is the only player in the Mideast Region to earn it for a third straight season. Schultz helped the Golden Eagles to a 27-11 overall record in 2014.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The up and down season for the Cornerstone Volleyball team was in full view on Friday night as they saw their season come to a close with a 5-set loss to cross-town foe Aquinas College. CU dropped the first set, before rallying to take a 2-1 lead only to see the Saints come back and win the final two to move on to the WHAC semifinals on Saturday. CU ends their season at 27-11 overall.
