LIMA, Ohio – For the second straight year and 17th time in the 23 year history of the conference, the Cornerstone men's basketball team will play for a WHAC Tournament championship. The No. 4 ranked Golden Eagles posted a 95-85 victory over No. 16 Northwestern Ohio on Saturday and they advance to play at No. 7 Davenport on Tuesday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m. Cornerstone and Davenport have identical 27-5 records and split the season series.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference has proven itself to be one of the top conferences in the country and Lima, Ohio will be the site of a showdown on Saturday between No. 4 ranked Cornerstone and No. 16 ranked Northwestern Ohio. The two teams who tied for the regular season title along with No. 7 Davenport, split the season series with UNOH winning at home 68-66 in the first meeting.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone saw a big first half lead dwindled down just three at the break but then erupted in the second half to post a 78-63 win over visiting Lourdes in the conference tournament quarterfinals. The No. 4 ranked Golden Eagles improve to 26-5 on the year and they turn their attention to No. 16 Northwestern Ohio in the WHAC Semi-final on Saturday. Game time in Lima is set for 3 p.m.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference announced their post-season honors today for men's basketball and Cornerstone placed seven different student athletes on the various teams. Leading the way was freshman Kyle Steigenga (FR/Holland, Mich.) who was one of three Golden Eagles honored on the First Team while being named the Newcomer of the Year.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The postseason is officially here and the No. 4 ranked men's basketball team will open WHAC Tournament play on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. against Lourdes University. The matchup is the No. 3 seed vs. No. 6 seed and the winner will advance to the semifinals on Saturday. Andy Smith will have the call live on the Golden Eagle Sports Network.
