[Tennis] Men's & Women's Tennis Fall to Taylor University

The Cornerstone tennis teams took to the courts today against non-conference opponent Taylor University.

The men lost a heartbreaking 5-4 decision, with the final point being decided in a third set at #5 singles. Getting wins for the Golden Eagles were Austin Hunt & Elijah Yi at #1 Doubles, Chris Reed & John Andrew at #2 Doubles, Austin Hunt at #2 Singles, and Chris Reed at #3 Singles.

In women's action, despite putting up a strong effort and having competitive matches, the women dropped all 9 matches in a 9-0 loss.

This concludes the fall dual match season. The CU women are now done with all matches for the fall season, while the men travel down the street for the Grand Valley Invitational next weekend.

[Tennis] Men's & Women's Tennis Split with Adrian

The Cornerstone Men's & Women's tennis teams traveled to Adrian, MI today for matches against D-III Adrian College. The men's team cruised to an 8-1 victory, including a sweep of the singles matches. The women dropped a very tight match 6-3.

Next up, both teams close out their fall dual match season by hosting Taylor University at home on September 29 at 2:00.

The Cornerstone Men's & Women's tennis teams played in the ITA Midwest Regional tournament on Thursday through Saturday. This is the largest and most important singles and doubles tournament of the tennis season, as it is the qualifier for the National singles & doubles championship.

Dan Erickson enters his first season as the Head Coach of the Men's & Women's Tennis program at Cornerstone University. Coach Erickson is excited about the challenge of restarting the tennis program at Cornerstone and is actively seeking players who want to make an impact right away. Dan is passionate about helping players grow in their tennis games, in their academic careers, and in their relationship with Christ.

"I have no doubt that Dan is the right person for this job. His experience and passion for the game of tennis is evident and I'm confident that he'll provide the right kind of leadership necessary to produce a successful program. He's exactly what we need for a start-up program " states Athletics Director Dave Grube.
