[Basketball] Basketball games to be delayed today

Today's gamea against UM-Dearborn will be delayed. The bus that they were travelling on broke down around Lansing so they are working on getting another bus and will get here as soon as they can. We will post further information as soon as we have it.

Due to our announcer not being able to leave early enough to do both the women's and men's games at University of Northwestern, we will not be able to broadcast the game over the internet but you can listen or watch both of the games from University of Northwestern's athletic site through Stretch Internet. [Basketball] NAIA Scholar Athletes Announced in Basketball

The NAIA announced the 2012 NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athletes in both men's and women's basketball. The Golden Eagles placed 3 student athletes on the scholar athlete team and they were; Alexa Hensler (Waterford, Mich.), Samantha Flietstra (Walker, Mich.) and Ashley Moon (Fremont, Mich.) Student athletes must academically be a junior or senior and carry a 3.5 cumlative GPA or higher.

Derek Kingshott (Zeeland, Mich.) was named a Daktronics Scholar Athlete for the Cornerstone men's basketball team.

[Basketball] WHAC Basketball Media Day Monday, October 24

Davenport University will be hosting a WHAC basketball media day on Monday, October 24th from 11-1pm. All Grand Rapids area WHAC schools have been invited - Davenport, Aquinas and Cornerstone. Davenport will be providing LIVE broadcasting on the Davenport Athletics Network (DAN) -video and audio and you can catch all the interviews by clicking on the link below.

Players of each team will also be on hand for interviews. The men's team has been picked #2 in the WHAC pre-season poll and are the defending National Champions. The Cornerstone women's team has been picked 3rd in the WHAC pre-season poll and finished last season at the national tournament.

Midnight Madness kicks off the basketball season at Cornerstone University. Come Thursday, October 6^th and join the fun! The line starts at 10:00pm in the blue gym and the event starts at 11:00pm. The top senior players, both men and women, from the Greater Grand Rapids area high schools and local colleges and universities will come together June 22-23 for the 2011 Champions of Character All-Star Game at Cornerstone University.

[Basketball] Men's and Women's WHAC Tournament Pairings Announced

The men's and women's basketball WHAC tournament pairings are set. The men's team finished the regular season 14-2 and won their second consecutive WHAC championship. The Golden Eagles are currently rated #3 in the NAIA and enter the WHAC tournament as the #1 seed. They will host #8 seed Northwestern Ohio on Thursday, February 24 at 7:30pm. CU swept the Racers in the regular season posting 90-64 and 81-65 victories.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The 4^th annual GR-area WHAC Basketball Media Day is set for Tuesday, October 26 from 10:30am - 12:00pm. Davenport University will serve as the host once again as they welcome in the men's and women's basketball coaches from Aquinas College and Cornerstone University.
