Ron Engels, a native of Wyoming, Mich., played football, basketball and baseball for Grand Rapids Community College.He graduated from Western Michigan University in 1963 and earned masters degree from Central Michigan in 1969.

As coach at Wyoming Park High School, where he taught history and family living, the team won the State Championship, three runner up State Championships, 15 conference titles, 11 district titles and seven regional titles.  He retired from teaching in 1994 and has since been helping coach baseball at Hudsonville High School.

He has served as president of the MHSBCA for two years, selected to the MHSBCA Hall of Fame and received the Coach of the Year for 1980, 1984, 1992 and 2001.
Engles and his wife, Barbara, have five children.
