Tami Thelen Wernette begins her first season as an assistant coach. Tami is no stranger to the Cornerstone hard-court as she was a four year player under head coach Carla Fles (2005-2009). Thelen-Wernette graduated from Cornerstone in 2009 with a bachelor's of art in education. Thelen-Wernette averaged 7.1PPG, 2.9RPG, 1.9APG and 1.0BPG. She was two year starter and captain her senior year. She was named to the WHAC All-Defensive team her as a junior and senior and received the most valuable defender award and Golden Eagle award as voted on by her teammates. As a junior she was named to the WHAC Champions of Character team and received the NAIA Champions of Character award.

"I am thrilled to have Tami as an assistant coach," states head coach Carla Fles. "As a former player she worked her way from the ground on up. She hardly played her freshman year but dedicated herself to the weight room and the gym and played in 30+ games the last years of her career. She could knock down the three and blocked a lot of shots because she could cover a lot of ground with her length. But Tami brings so much more to this team as an assistant. She never lacks for energy or enthusiasm and she is a great role model for this team."

Thelen-Wernette currently works at the Kent ISD and was recently married to Jordan Wernette.
