Michelle Vermeulen begins her first year as assistant coach for the women's basketball program. A 2006 graduate of Michigan State University Vermeulen earned her B.A. in Business Marketing. While attending MSU she worked at Aim High Sports as a league and camp director. She coached a 16u AAU team, did personal training and ran basketball conditioning camps at Aim High. Vermeulen is experienced in event planning, camp organization and is knowledgeable in film editing and website maintenance. Vermeulen graduated from South Christian High School where she was a standout in soccer and basketball. She was a class B All-State Honorable Mention selection in 2001 and helped lead her team to two O.K. Gold championships in 2000 and 2001. She was also a first team Class B soccer All-Stater in 2002. She will oversee all aspects of recruiting, organize team functions and be a floor coach. "Michelle brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the team. She will be an asset on the recruiting front and is highly motivated," states head coach Carla Fles.
Michelle works for her dad at a real estate appraisal company. She is currently working on obtaining an appraisal license. She is married to Jared Vermeulen and they have a dog named Duke.
