Dan Erickson enters
his first season as the Head Coach of the Men's & Women's Tennis program at
Cornerstone University. Coach Erickson is excited about the challenge of
restarting the tennis program at Cornerstone and is actively seeking players
who want to make an impact right away. Dan is passionate about helping players grow
in their tennis games, in their academic careers, and in their relationship
"I have no doubt that Dan is the right person for this job. His experience and passion for the game of tennis is evident and I'm confident that he'll provide the right kind of leadership necessary to produce a successful program. He's exactly what we need for a start-up program " states Athletics Director Dave Grube.
Coach Erickson played four seasons
of tennis at Bethel College (Mishawaka, IN), where he played anywhere from #2-6
singles and all three double's positions. During that time, Dan began working
at the South Bend Racquet Club and the Leeper Park Tennis Center and developed
a love for teaching tennis, the tennis industry, and growing the game in the
community. He also coached high school tennis in South Bend, IN. After college,
Dan moved to Lexington, KY, where he took the job as General Manager of the
Kentucky Tennis Academy (KTA). After several years, Dan transitioned to the
Lexington Tennis Club, the second largest indoor tennis club in the country,
where he then also served as General Manager. Dan also helped start Champions
Sports, a 40,000 square foot indoor baseball & softball training center, as
well as start The Kentucky Baseball Club, for which he served as Treasurer.
After 10 years in Kentucky, Dan has returned to the Midwest and now serves as
Cornerstone's head coach. "Dan looks forward to developing strong
tennis players and championship teams but his greatest desire is to see his
players grow spiritually,"comments A.D. Dave Grube
Dan remains an active tennis player and says that little relaxes him more than hitting tennis balls.
