Cornerstone University announced that they will be adding sports for the 2015-16 academic school year. Three additional Varsity sports (Men's and Women's Bowling and Cheerleading) will be added next year to the current 15 sports already sponsored by Cornerstone. Applications are currently being accepted for the Head Coach positions in those sports. Head Coach positions are currently posted at: :https://www.cornerstone.edu/university-employment
Cornerstone will also be adding JV / Reserve teams in Women's soccer and Women's Basketball.

They will not only increase opportunity for students to participate in intercollegiate athletics at Cornerstone but they will also have a positive impact our campus community. We would like to hire the coaches s as soon as possible so we have plenty of time to recruit student athletes for following year."
(Pontiac, Mich.) The Golden Eagles played Rochester College today and came away with a 5-1 victory. Cornerstone started off pretty fast today scoring their first goal around 4 minutes into the game. Freshman Mykayla Denison collected a clear, took a touch to her right and hit a shot to the far post to make it 1-0. Josie Litty made it 2-0 in the 12th minute on a through ball from Lexie Brisson-Fast. Brisson-Fast flicked a header on to Litty that was in on a 1 v 1 and she volleyed the ball past the Rochester GK for the 2nd goal. Jess Erny made it 3-0 just before the half. Erny received a ball from Teigan Mitcham and she launched a long range shot over the top of the GK into the far post to give Cornerstone a 3-0 advantage. Tori Johns added to the total in the 49th minute on a shot that the GK mishandled. That was off of a give and go from Lexie Brisson-Fast. Brisson-Fast then got in on the scoring herself. Mykayla Denison got the ball at the top of the box and drew a couple of defenders before laying it off to Lexie who to a prep touch and rifled a ball into the far post to put the Golden Eagles up 5-0. Cornerstone conceded a goal off of a penalty kick in the 60th minute. Neither team would score after that and it ended as a 5-1 win for the Golden Eagles. Cornerstone will go into WHAC play this coming Saturday when they open up on the road against University of Northwestern Ohio at 3:00 p.m. in Lima, Ohio.
The Golden Eagles traveled down to Goshen to take on the Maple Leafs tonight at 7:00 p.m. and they came home with their second victory of the season. Senior Chris Buitenhuis scored his second goal of his career and second game in a row to put the Golden Eagles up 1-0 in the 73rd minute of play. Buitenhuis headed in a Tristan Esprit corner kick for the game winner. Sophomore Gareth Flynn added an insurance goal in the 86th minute to put the Golden Eagles up 2-0. Cornerstone outshot Goshen 16-13 for the game. Nick Hopkins picked up his 2nd win and his first shut-out of the season. Cornerstone improves to 2-5-0 on the year. The Golden Eagles will return to action a week from today (Sept. 27th) when they travel over to Aquinas for a 3:00 kickoff.
The Cornerstone women's tennis team travelled to Judson University today, and fell by the score of 7-2. After missing the first 3 matches with a broken wrist, Heidi Boesl returned to action today, and won her first match at #3 Singles by the score of 6-1, 6-2. At #4 Singles, Ashley Greene won 6-1, 6-1 to wrap up the winning for Cornerstone.
Up next for Cornerstone is the very important Night of Nets match against Bethel College on Friday September 26 at 2:30 pm at Northpointe Christian High School. Night of Nets is becoming a CU tradition and is sweeping to schools all over the country to raise funds to stamp out malaria.
