GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Head coach Kim Elders and his team are just one week away from tipping off the 2014-15 campaign with a matchup against Grace Bible College. Next week, we will preview the team in an interview with Coach E as he heads into season number 22 on the bench for the Golden Eagles.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – With a chance to move into second place in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, the women's soccer team posted a 2-2 draw at No. 22 Davenport on Wednesday night. The tie leaves the Golden Eagles at 9-2-3 overall and 4-2-1 in the WHAC which is good for a tie for third. Cornerstone will come back home for a Saturday 4:30 kick against Madonna University on Saturday.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After falling to Siena Heights in five sets on the road in the first meeting of the season, the Cornerstone volleyball team returned home to Mol Arena and posted a sweep over the Saints on Wednesday night. The 25-18, 25-23, 25-19 victory lifts head coach Ryan Campbell and his team to 19-8 on the season and 10-6 in league play. CU will host the Aquinas/Cornerstone Classic this weekend in which they will play four matches in two days.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Tristan Esprit (SR/Toronto, Ontario) scored on a free kick in the 17' but it was not enough for the Golden Eagles in their upset bid of No. 4 Davenport. The visiting Panthers scored the equalizer in the first half and followed with the game winner as CU played a man down in the second to escape with the win. The loss drops Cornerstone to 4-10-1 on the season and 2-5-1 in league play. CU will host Marygrove on Saturday at 7 p.m.
CHEBOYGAN, Wis. – The Cornerstone men's golf team posted the ninth best score out of 17 teams on day two of the Kohler Collegiate Classic and moved up three spots to finish in a tie for 13th. Sam Vos (SR/Grand Haven, Mich.) continued his strong play as the senior posted a second round 76 to finish in a tie for 17 overall individually as the team posted a 321. The tournament marked the last for the Golden Eagles for the fall season.
