SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Golden Eagles used a late first half run to open a 6-point lead at the break as they posted a 69-64 win at Spring Arbor on Tuesday evening. The victory is the second in a row on the road for Cornerstone as they improve to 7-5 on the year. CU will come back home to host Bethel College (Ind.) on Thursday at 7 p.m.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Six Cornerstone University greats will be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Honor in early February of 2015 as announced by the school on Monday afternoon. The 2015 class includes Shannon Bambach (Underwood) (Track & Field), Carla Fles (Women's Basketball), Mary Koscielniak (Women's Soccer), Andy and Nancie Smith (Golden Eagle Club) and Jeremy Underwood (Track & Field). The class will be formally inducted during Homecoming Weekend, Feb. 6-7, in conjunction with the basketball games against Madonna University.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After helping the Cornerstone women's basketball team to a road victory last week over Concordia, junior Jill Hendrickson (JR/Ada, Mich.) was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player of the Week. The center posted 28 points, 12 rebounds and a pair of steals to lead CU to a 72-55 victory in Ann Arbor.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – In their final games before the Christmas holiday, the Cornerstone women's basketball team will take on a pair of Crossroads League foes in Spring Arbor and Bethel. The Golden Eagles travel to SAU on Tuesday and then come home to face the Pilots on Thursday.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The host Cardinals of Concordia made 10 of their first 12 shots from the field and built a 17-point halftime lead which was enough to hold off No. 12 Cornerstone in a 78-69 loss for the Golden Eagles. Kyle Steigenga (FR/Holland, Mich.) finished with a double-double for CU with 22 points and 10 rebounds as they fall to 9-4 on the season and 5-2 in the WHAC. CU will resume play next Friday vs. Edwards Waters (Fla.) in West Palm Beach.
