GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After returning from the Dominican Republic less than 48 hours ago, the Cornerstone volleyball team made the short road trip down the East Betline to open league play at Aquinas and the Golden Eagles came away with a 3-1 win. CU won the first two sets 25-21, 25-19 before falling in the third and then closing out the host Saints 25-15. CU will take on IU-South Bend on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Aquinas College.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – With two big regional matches on the schedule for the weekend, the men's tennis team got it started with a 6-3 win over Huntington on Friday evening. The Golden Eagles used a 2-1 edge after doubles and walked away with four wins in singles to post their second win of the season over a Crossroads League foe. CU will host Olivet Nazarene on Saturday at 1p.m. at MVP Sportsplex
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Cornerstone women's tennis team was unable to overcome a strong start by Huntington on Friday night as they fell to the Foresters 9-0 in non-league action. HU posted six wins in singles and then followed it by sweeping the doubles to send Cornerstone to their second loss of the season. CU will host Olivet Nazarene on Saturday at MVP Sportsplex.
CHICAGO, Ill. – Searching for their first win of the season in the windy city, Cornerstone got an early goal from freshman Alexys Riksen (FR/Grand Haven, Mich.) and then held off a Saint Xavier rally to post a 1-0 win. The victory evens the Golden Eagles' record at 1-1 on the season as they face St. Francis (Ill.) on Saturday at 1 p.m. EST.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Head coach Mark Bell and the men's soccer team is in the midst of a five-match trip away from Grand Rapids as they take on Saint Xavier (Ill.) on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles are coming off a 7-0 victory over Fisher College (Mass.) and will look to extend their winning streak to three as they face one of the top teams in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
