GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone senior Cailie Schultz (SR/Rockford, Mich.) went over 1,000 career kills on Saturday afternoon as she led the Golden Eagles to a pair of wins in the Aquinas/Cornerstone Classic. Schultz finished with 30 kills in the pair of victories over Rochester and William Penn as the Golden Eagles now sit at 23-8 on the season. CU will return to action on Wednesday when they play No. 14 Davenport on the road.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Heading into the final five minutes of the match it looked as if the men's soccer team would knock off one of the conference's title contenders but a late goal by Marygrove and then one in the last two minutes of overtime sent CU to a 2-1 defeat. The loss marked the fourth one of the year in extra time for the Golden Eagles as they fall to 4-11-1. CU will host Cleary University on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
WALKER, Mich. – In their last meet before the WHAC Championships on November 8, senior Julie Oosterhouse (SR/Byron Center, Mich.) led the women's cross country team to a 10th place finish at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge. Oosterhouse was second among all runners as the team now prepares for the conference meet at Riverside Park in two weeks.
WALKER, Mich. – The men's cross country ran their last race before the 2014 WHAC Championships in two weeks and came away with a solid 13th place finish at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge held at Gracewil GC in Walker. Louis Falland led the Golden Eagles with a sixth place finish as they now turn their attention to the WHAC Championships at Riverside Park on November 8.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. –The visiting Crusaders made the most of very limited opportunities on Saturday afternoon as they came away with the only goal of the match to defeat the Golden Eagles 1-0. The loss drops head coach Randy Strawser and his team to 9-3-3 on the season and 4-3-1 in league play. CU will return to action on Tuesday when they host Saint Xavier (Ill.).
