GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – For the first time since re-starting the baseball program in 2013, the Cornerstone Golden Eagles will play post-season games. Head coach Dave Mitroff and his team finished up the regular season with a 3-1 series win over Siena Heights and will open the WHAC Tournament on Monday against the second seed Davenport University. CU, which is the fifth seed in the tourney played at Siena Heights, last appeared in the WHAC post-season in 1998.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Brittany Murray (SR/Monclova, Ohio.) made her last WHAC meet one to remember as the senior was named the Most Valuable Performer as she led the Golden Eagles to a third place finish on Friday evening. Cornerstone got a pair of WHAC Champions from Murray and fellow senior Julie Oosterhouse (SR/Byron Center, Mich.) to finish behind Indiana Tech and Aquinas in the team standings.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Louis Falland (SR/Nuriootpa, Australia) took home the Most Valuable Performer and Travis Mabe (SR/Deford, Mich.) won a pair of events including a new WHAC meet record as the men's track & field team finished third in the Outdoor conference championships. The two-day event at Houseman Field in downtown Grand Rapids wrapped up late on Friday night with the Golden Eagles placing behind Indiana Tech and Siena Heights.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles were able to play many of their seniors today since they wrapped up a playoff spot with the sweep of Siena Heights last night but both team still came to play today even though the result wouldn't affect the playoff situation. The Saints captured game one with two runs in the 11th inning and the Golden Eagles won the second game in the 8th inning with a walkoff hit by Davis Martin. Cornerstone finishes the regular season with a 26-29 overall record and a mark of 17-19 in the WHAC. Cornerstone will play at the WHAC Tournament hosted by Siena Heights on Monday. GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The women's bowling team has added another local standout to their inaugural recruiting class as Mike Hall announced the signing of Belding's Alyviah Mason. The recruit is the eighth for the women's team as they will begin competition next fall in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference and USBC.
