Brittany Green (Junior from Monclova, Ohio) built a big lead on Day 1 of the Heptathlon and led all competitors after the first four events. Green finished 1st in the Shot Put and 2nd in the 100 Meter Hurdles, High Jump, and 200 Meter Dash. She set 3 PR's on Day 1. Green started Day 2 with a win in the Long Jump and picked up an additional 62 points on the closest competitor going into the last 2 events. She knew that she would give up some points to her closest competitors in the Javeline which she did but she had enough of a lead going into the 800 Meter Run to make things interesting. Green knew she had to finish within 11 seconds of Erin DeVries of Northwestern and 8 seconds of Karen Hutson of Doane to win the Heptathlon. It came down to Hutson and Green in the end. Green finished in 7th with a time of 2:28.39 which was about 6 seconds behind Hutson and Green edged Hutson out by 4 points (5267 to 5263) to become the NAIA National Champion in the Heptathlon.
