WELCOME to the Cornerstone University

Champions of Character Program

I want to thank you for visiting our site and hope that you find the information you are looking for. At Cornerstone University we place great value on the Champions of Character program. We believe that there is a deterioration in the culture of sport today from the professional level all the way down to the youngest youth level. We see instances of violence among athletes, cheating through performance enhancing drugs and parents who are, quite frankly, out-of-control.
 
In light of these behaviors we believe that the time is now to change the culture of sport. We have formed a partnership with the O-K Conference (49 local high schools), both of the Grand Rapids professional sports organizations (Grand Rapids Griffins and West Michigan Whitecaps) and the West Michigan Sports Commission.
 
Through these partnerships it is our desire to be a resource for all coaches, athletes, parents, youth programs, booster clubs and administrators not only in the Grand Rapids area but the entire Midwest. We have a program specifically for your athletes, coaches and parents that challenge them to take responsibility for their behavior both on and off the court and field. These 45-minute to 60-minute sessions are chocked full of examples, discussion, instruction of skills and action steps necessary to build character in the context of sport. The requirements from your organization are simple: provide a facility (with AV equipment), commit to have outstanding attendance from your group and embrace the five core values.
