Mark enters his 13th season as the men's soccer coach at Cornerstone University. In 12 seasons with the Golden Eagles, Coach Bell has compiled a 124-92-25 record while coaching one Major League Soccer draft pick, 10 National Intercollegiate Athletic Association (NAIA) All-American-Honorable Mention selections, 12 All-Region selections, 3 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Players of the Year, 25 All-Conference honorees and 10 Academic All-Americans. Coach Bell has been named WHAC Coach of the Year on three occasions (2000, 2003, and 2006) and Champions of Character Coach of the Year one occasion (2007).

Prior to coming to Cornerstone, Coach Bell spent three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Massachusetts/Boston (1995-97). He helped the Beacon's to their only Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Tournament appearance with a 13-5-2 record. Bell also served as an assistant coach for North Park College(Ill.) (1987-90). Highlights include helping the program go from a 2-14 season to two winning seasons and appearances in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Conference playoff finals.

Bell attended Wheaton College (Ill.) (1979-83) where he made two NCAA tournament appearances and played under Hall of Fame coach Joe Bean. He also competed abroad in Europe with Lay Witness for Christ. In addition to his coaching duties, he teaches for the kinesiology department at Cornerstone. He has also taken the men's program on mission trips to the Ukraine, Brazil and most recently to the Dominican Republic.

Mark and his wife Catherine have two sons (Zack and Josh). Catherine is a professor at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary.

Assistant Coach - 3rd Season

Coach Duckworth will be in his second season as coach for the Junior Varsity program. Jerry is a graduate of Northern Michigan University with a B.A. in education. He received his M.A. from Grand Valley in secondary education. He currently teaches social studies and physical education for NorthPointe Christian High School in Grand Rapids. He has been teaching for 24 years. Jerry brings 23 years of coaching experience to our staff this season. He has coached the last 12 years at NorthPointe Christian High School. Highlights during that time include 141 wins, making the State Finals in 2000, three District Championships, and three River Valley Conference Championships. Jerry has earned his NSCAA Regional Diploma and his E License. He has been married for 25 years to his wife, Kathleen, and has three kids: Josh, Joy, and Anna. Jerry enjoys bow hunting, kayaking, fly-fishing and camping when he is not on the soccer field.

Assistant Coach - 6th Season

Steve begins his fifth season as assistant coach for the Golden Eagles. Steve played for the Golden Eagles in 2000. He was named All-Conference, WHAC Player of the Year, All-Region and NAIA All-American-Honorable Mention. He was then drafted by the Colorado Rapids in the 2nd round (17th overall) in the Major League Soccer draft. Steve played two years for Colorado and was traded to Columbus Crew. Steve retired after the 2005 season and returned to Grand Rapids with his family, wife Betsey (Cornerstone alum and women's soccer team member) and daughter Lindsey. Steve is also currently coaching for Grand Rapids Crew Juniors.

Assistant Coach - 6th Season

Brett has been involved in either playing or coaching soccer for the last 28 years. He played college soccer here at Cornerstone University (1983 to 86). In 1983 and 1984, Brett was part of the national qualifying teams that placed third and seventh overall in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). Brett had the privilege of playing under Dr. John Bratcher, who has the fourth most wins out of the nation's college soccer coaches. Brett has served as an assistant coach at Western Michigan Christian High School. During his tenure, the boys' program produced three state championships for the Warriors. Brett holds an Advanced National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), and is currently the president of Shoreline Indoor Soccer Club in Spring Lake, Mich. Brett lives in Grand Haven, Mich. with his wife Beth (Everitt CU '84) and their two daughters Summer and Shelby.
