Randy Strawser Image

Randy enters his 16th year as the head coach for the women's soccer program at Cornerstone University. Coach Strawser came to Cornerstone from Westmont College (Calif.) where he served as an instructor of Kinesiology and Assistant Soccer Coach for the men's program from 1992 to 2000. Randy was Head Men's Soccer Coach at Mount Olive College (N.C.) from 1986-92.

Strawser is a 1984 graduate of Coker College (S.C.) where he earned his bachelor's degree in physical education. Strawser was an National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-South player and was named Athlete of the Year his senior year at Coker. He earned his M.A. in health and physical education from Appalachian State University (N.C.) in 1986. He served as graduate assistant on the men's soccer team that won the Southern Conference title in 1985. Strawser holds the Advanced National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and the "B License" from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF). Strawser was named Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Coach of the Year in 2003, 2006, and 2010.  He was also voted  Region VIII Coach of the Year in 2007. Coach Strawser has led the Golden Eagles into the NAIA Regional Tournament four times. He led the Golden Eagles to the NAIA Region VIII Championship and to their first NAIA National Championship in 2007. He has been named WHAC Soccer Coach of Character four times (2007, 2008, 2009 and 2014).  He was also named WHAC Coach of Character in 2012.  Strawser currently ranks as the 15th winningest coach in the NAIA for women's soccer.

Randy is married to Dianne Strawser and has three sons (CJ, Mitchel and Jadon) and a daughter (Elisha). Randy and Dianne reside in Cascade.

Assistant Coach - 2nd Season

Kathy is in her second season on the coaching staff.  Kathy was a member of the Cornerstone women's soccer team for four years (2009-12) and was the starting goalkeeper during her junior and senior seasons.  Kathy's roll  will be coaching the goalkeepers.  She is currently working and finishing her undergraduate degree in Education.  Kathy resides in Grand Rapids, Mich.  .

Assistant Coach - 3rd Season

Aimee Luurtsema begins her third season as an assistant coach for the women's soccer program. 

Luurtsema is a Grandville, Michigan native and came to Cornerstone after graduating from Hudsonville Unity Christian and furthering her education and soccer career at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Before moving to the coaching ranks, Luurtsema started as a defender/forward at Liberty University for four years - earning Big South all-conference honors.

During her career at Liberty, Luurtsema posted 31 points as a junior and earned numerous Player of the Week honors in the ECAC and Big South.

Luurtsema has had past coaching experience from Liberty University summer soccer camps, local soccer academy, Adam Godwin Soccer Academy and started a summer local soccer camp, Thunder Foot Soccer, with Michigan State soccer graduates and high school teammates, Laura Heyboer and Jill Flietstra during the summer of 2007.

Luurtsema graduated from Liberty University in 2012 with a degree in Business and a specialization in marketing.

Dan McAllister
Assistant Coach - 13th Season

Dan is in his 13th season as an assistant coach for Cornerstone. Coach McAllister has been involved with soccer in the Grand Rapids area at all levels as he has coached youth teams, high school teams, and college teams. He was a staff Olympic development program (ODP) coach for Michigan from 1996-2009. He has served as the head coach for the West Michigan Fire Juniors U-17 and U-15 girls' teams. He is currently coaching with the Tri-Cities Soccer Club. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the program. He holds a USSF "National C" license (#7152) and a USSF "National Youth" license (#375), and a National Youth - State Instructors Certification. He coached at Cornerstone in 2002 and 2003. He took the 2004 season off but returned to coach in 2005. He has coached various club teams over the years including Grand Rapids Area Soccer Association, West Michigan Fire Juniors, and Tri-City Strikers.

He is currently serving as the Technical Director with the Michigan Fire Juniors Soccer Club and coaches a couple of teams with them.

Dan is married to Renee McAllister and they reside in Grand Haven, Mich. They have four daughters (Danielle, Charise, Christina and Chelsea).


David Wood Image

David is in his fourth season as an assistant coach for Cornerstone. A native of Middlesbrough, England played in the Middlesbrough F.C and Blackburn Rovers Academies before moving to the US. As a player in the US, David was a stand-out player at Davenport University being a four year starter and helping the schoo tol its first National Championship appearance in 2010.

Wood also played in the PDL for a number for years before a serious injury ended his playing career. As a coach he has been involved with soccer in the Grand Rapids area and currently serves as the Director of Coaching for the Michigan Fire Juniors, along with working on staff for Michigan's Olympic Development Program (ODP). He currently holds his "USSF National B" License and his NSCAA Advanced National Diploma.

David is married to Cynthia Wood and reside in Byron Center, MI. They have two daughters (Addy and Ava).
