Head Coach - 13th Season

Randy is in his 13th year as the head coach for the women's soccer program at Cornerstone University. Coach Strawser came to Cornerstone from Westmont College (Calif.) where he served as an instructor of kinesiology and assistant soccer coach for the men's program from 1992 to 2000. Randy was head men's soccer coach at Mount Olive College (N.C.) from 1986-92.

Strawser is a 1984 graduate of Coker College (S.C.) where he earned his bachelor's degree in physical education. Strawser was an National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-South player and was named Athlete of the Year his senior year at Coker. He earned his M.A. in health and physical education from Appalachian State University (N.C.) in 1986. He served as graduate assistant on the men's soccer team that won the Southern Conference title in 1985. Strawser holds the Advanced National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and the "B License" from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF). Strawser was named Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Coach of the Year in 2003 and 2006 and Region VIII Coach of the Year in 2007. Coach Strawser has led the Golden Eagles into the NAIA Regional Tournament four times. He led the Golden Eagles to the NAIA Region VIII Championship and to their first NAIA National Championship in 2007. He has been named WHAC Coach of Character three times (2007, 2008, and 2009)

Randy is married to Dianne Strawser and has three sons (CJ, Mitchel and Jadon) and a daughter (Elisha). Randy and Dianne reside in Cascade. Dianne also coaches the girls' soccer team at East Grand Rapids H.S.

Assistant Coach - 2nd Season
Ashleigh enters her second season on the coaching staff.  Ashleigh was a four year starter and 2 time All-American for the Golden Eagles.  She helped lead the Golden Eagles to two NAIA National Tournaments.  She is currently working and taking graduate school classes and lives in Middleville, Mich.

Assistant Coach - 1st Season

After recently graduating in May, 2012, Aimee Luurtsema begins her first season as an assistant coach for the women's soccer program. In addition to her duties with the Golden Eagles soccer team, Luurtsema is the assistant sports information director for Cornerstone athletics.

Luurtsema is a Grandville, Michigan native. She came to Cornerstone after graduating from Hudsonville Unity Christian and furthering her education and soccer career at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Before moving to the coaching ranks, Luurtsema started as a defender/forward at Liberty University for four years - earning Big South all-conference honors named to Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) all-state first team led Liberty and finished second in the Big South with 13 goals became the third player in school history to net more than 10 goals in a season paced team and finished No. 2 in the conference in total points with 31 points her junior season, making herself one of two Lady Flames to put up more than 30 points in a season earned Big South Player of the Week honors was named Big South and ECAC Player of the Week after putting up four goals and an assist became the fourth player in school history to record four goals in a single game and second to post nine points named to Big South Presidential Honor Roll all four years.

Luurtsema has had past coaching experience from Liberty University summer soccer camps, local soccer academy, Adam Godwin Soccer Academy, year round, and started a summer local soccer camp, Thunder Foot Soccer, with Michigan State soccer graduates and high school teammates, Laura Heyboer and Jill Flietstra during the summer of 2007.

Luurtsema graduated from Liberty University in 2012 with a degree in Business and a specialization in marketing. "I am excited to see the impact that God will have in my life here, in Cornerstone athletics. I am extremely passionate about soccer and love to bring my marketing skills to the sports information side of things. I have had the privilege to become the soccer player I am today because of coaches and teammates and I am thrilled to pass my knowledge onto the players this season and look forward to the challenge."

Assistant Coach - 11th Season

Dan is in his 11th year as an assistant coach for Cornerstone. Coach McAllister has been involved with soccer in the Grand Rapids area at all levels. He has coached youth teams, high school teams, and college teams in the area. He was a staff Olympic development program (ODP) coach for Michigan from 1996-2009. He has served as the head coach for the West Michigan Fire Juniors U-17 and U-15 girls' teams. He is currently coaching with the Tri-Cities Soccer Club. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the program. He holds a USSF "National C" license (#7152) and a USSF "National Youth" license (#375), and a National Youth - State Instructors Certification. He coached at Cornerstone in 2002 and 2003. He took the 2004 season off but returned to coach in 2005. He has coached various club teams over the years including Grand Rapids Area Soccer Association, West Michigan Fire Juniors, and Tri-City Strikers.

Dan is married to Renee McAllister and they reside in Grand Haven, Mich. They have four daughters (Danielle, Charise, Christina and Chelsea.

Assistant Coach - 5th Season

Eric is in his fifth year of coaching the goalkeepers for Cornerstone's women's team. He coached the goalkeepers in 2000 and has returned for his second stint with the women's team. He was a four year starter for and graduate of Cornerstone. He also coached the men's team in 1999 and trained both the men's and women's goalkeepers in 2008 before moving back to just the women's team in 2009. He was the head women's soccer coach at Grace College (Ind.) from 2003-2007. Coach Mikel has also coached various club teams and players in the area. He will be coaching with the Michigan Wolves of Grand Rapids this fall.

Eric is married to Jodi Mikel and they have four children (Kaiya, Elijah, Kennedy and Abram). They reside in Grand Rapids.

Assistant Coach - 1st Season
Alyssa Thayer (formerly Morrow) joins the staff this year to help train the GK's.  Thayer played four season for the Golden Eagles and helped lead Cornerstone to their second appearance at the NAIA National Tournament in 2010.  Alyssa is married to Josh Thayer and they reside in Grand Rapids, Mich.  Thayer is currently enrolled in grad school at Western Michigan University.
 
David Wood

David Wood joins the Golden Eagles staff this year after volunteering last season.  Wood was a standout player from Davenport University and is currently on staff with the Grand Rapids Crew Soccer Club.  Wood is married to Cynthia Wood and they reside in Caledonia, Mich.

Manager - 5th Season
Kayla Welch begins her fifth year as manager for the women's soccer program.  Welch attends Cornerstone University and plans on getting her degree in Psychology and Family Studies.
