The Golden Eagles shot 46.4% (11-23) from the field and 90.1% (10-11) from the foul line in the second half and cut the lead down to 3 with 2:50 left in the game but they turned the ball over and never got back in contention after that.
The Cardinals made a 10-0 run to start the game and the Golden Eagles didn't get on the scoreboard until 14:50 on the clock. The Cardinals kept at least a 5 point lead over the next eight minutes of play. Cornerstone cut the lead to (23-18) with 6:54 on the clock but the Cardinals scored the next 10 points to take a 33-18 lead with 4:03 on the clock. Their biggest lead of the half (36-20) came with 3:14 left. Cornerstone scored the last basket of the half to cut the lead to 36-22 going into the locker room. The Golden Eagles slowly chipped away at the lead through the first 9 ½ minutes of the second half and was down only 4 points (42-38) with 10:38 on the clock. The Cardinals pushed the lead back to (50-40) at 7:54. The Golden Eagles got it back to a single digit lead and kept it there throughout the remainder of the half. They cut the lead to 3 on a couple of occasions but CU just couldn't get it back to even as the Cardinals finished with a 66-59 win over the Golden Eagles.
