The Saints shot 53.3% (24-45) from the field and 63.6% (7-11) from long range while the Golden Eagles shot only 26.4% (14-53) from the field in the game.
Melissa Veltkamp drained a 3-pointer with 17:14 on the clock to give the Golden Eagles a 3-0 lead to start the game but the Saints outscored Cornerstone 7-1 over the next 3 ½ minutes of play to take a 7-4 lead with 13:51 on the clock. The teams would see three ties and three lead changes over the next four minutes of play. The Saints then took the advantage for the remainder of the half and went into the locker room with a 28-21 lead. Siena Heights came out in the second half and increased their lead to double digits (33-23) with 18:18 left in the half. Cornerstone kept the lead to around 10 points up until there was 11:58 on the clock. The Saints would continue to pull away from the Golden Eagles for the remainder of the half. They pushed the lead to 20 points (56-36) with 8:15 left in the half. Cornerstone cut the lead to 15 (57-42) with 6:11 on the clock but Siena Heights would respond with a 13-5 run over the remaining minutes to defeat the Golden Eagles 70-47. Sam Flietstra led the team with 12 points, while Melissa Veltkamp chipped in with 11 and Kayleigh Hammond finished with 10 points shooting a perfect 8-8 from the FT-line.
The Golden Eagles will host league leader #6 Concordia on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m for Senior Night.
