Cornerstone University and head baseball coach David Mitroff are excited to announce the signing of Cullen Montgomery, a pitcher and outfielder playing currently at Florida State College at Jacksonville. A transfer from Cedarville College, the right hander was the ace of the staff his freshman season going 8-3 with a 3.57 earned run average. He was also named to the 2011 All-NCCAA Midwest Region Baseball Team. As a prep player at Highlands Christian Academy in Florida, Montgomery helped lead the Knights to the state tournament by hitting .523 with 21 RBI and 6 HR.
When asked about choosing Cornerstone, Cullen said, "I chose Cornerstone for several reasons, the first being that I felt God leading me to come here. I see a growing momentum with this school within the faculty, staff, and students that is exciting to be around. I have been able to see strong Christian values acted out and practiced in a day-to-day environment. In my short visit, I saw a passion for God and ministry that I haven't found anywhere else. I see a school that has its collective priorities in line with how life should be. Cornerstone is an amazing place filled with Godly people, doing His work, learning and working hard in the classroom, and competing in the arena of sports with the aim of doing everything to glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."
Coach Dave Mitroff said, "We have continually prayed for God to lead us to young men who are on fire for the Lord and represent the mission of Cornerstone University. Cullen Montgomery is that type of young man. His baseball stats speak for themselves and it is obvious that he is an incredible player. Cullen has a passion for everything that he does and I know that he will be a leader both on and off the field for our program."
