(Marion, Ind.) One week after just missing the NAIA provisional qualifying standard in his first mile race, Louis Falland ran the 1,000 meters at the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational Classic with similar results. After covering the first 400 meters in 61 seconds, the sophomore from Nuriootpa, Australia began moving toward the leaders. An excellent 60.9 for the final 400 meters brought him to the finish line in third place. "I looked at my watch and it was too close to tell if he made it or just missed it," said men's distance coach Nate Van Holten. Needing 2:33.80 for an NAIA provisional qualifying time, the PA announcer brought good news: 2:33.65, putting Falland third on the CU all-time list. Zach Bourdon placed fifth in a personal best 2:40.48.
The Golden Eagles finished in the top three in six other events.
