The Racers shot 58.1% (18-31) from the field which included 60% (3-5) from long range in the first half of play and finished the half with a 12 point (43-31) lead. The Golden Eagles shot much better in the second half of play shooting 48.4% from the field.
The Golden Eagles scored the first basket of the day to go up 2-0 but that would be their only lead of the half. They kept the score pretty close for most of the half but the Racers did slowly increase their lead throughout the half and went into the locker room with a 12 point (43-31) advantage. The Golden Eagles began to chip away at the lead and finally got within single digits with 11:30 on a Wes Hudson layup to put the Golden Eagles within eight (55-47). Cornerstone made a 9-2 run to bring the score to 57-56 with 7:19 on the clock. Wes Hudson hit a 3-pointer with 2:02 left on the clock to give the Golden Eagles a 67-65 advantage and they would go on to win the game 72-69.
The Golden Eagles will play host to Madonna at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
