KEY TEAM STATS
Cougars shot 55.2% (16-29) which included 4 of 6 from long range in the first
half and led 44-38 at the half. The Golden
Eagles made 23 of 25 from the foul line for the game.
Golden Eagles started a little slow and Spring Arbor took advantage of that
making an 18-8 run in the first 7:14 of the game. Spring Arbor would maintain about a 10 point
cushion for most of the first half and would push the lead to as high as 16
points 34-18 with 6:16 left in the half.
Cornerstone scored the last 5 points of the half reducing the Cougars
lead to 44-38 at the half. The Cougars
would maintain at lead a 4 point cushion through the first 11:30 of the second
half but the Golden Eagles would take a 63-62 lead with 7:07 on a Ronald Bates
basket. The teams tied at 65-65 and then
again at 70-70. Both team had a couple
of shots down the stretch but neither team could convert and they went to
overtime. The first overtime featured a
couple of ties and a couple of lead changes.
Spring Arbor tied the game at 79-79 with: 09 left in the first overtime
to send it to double overtime. The
Cougars hit back to back 3-pointers to start the second overtime and they never
looked back as they went on to defeat the Golden Eagles 92-85
The Golden Eagles will return home to continue WHAC play on Wednesday, Jan.
4th at 7:30 when they take on Indiana Tech.
