Cornerstone shot only 33.3% in the first half which included 0-5 from beyond the arc. Unfortunately, the Golden Eagles shot a lower percentage (32.4%) in the 2nd half of play while St. Francis shot 53.3% and 52.2% in the first and second half respectively.
The Golden Eagles started out very slowly and they never really got back into the game. The Cougars went up 24-8 with 9:51 left in the first half. Cornerstone would trim the lead to 9 points on three separate occasions but that would be as close as they would get in the first half and they went into the locker room down 40-25. The Cougars would extend the lead to as high as 25 points (51-26 at the 15:17 mark of the second half. The Golden Eagles would only get to within 12 points (67-55) with 6:11 remaining but the Cougars never let them back in the game as they defeated Cornerstone 78-61.
The Golden Eagles drop to 0-4 on the season and will return to action on Friday for an early tip-off at 2:00 p.m. against Daemen (N.Y.). Daemen is currently 2-1 on the season and will play at Davenport the night before they play Cornerstone.
