The Golden Eagles earned a huge home win today when they blanked Aquinas 2-0 to improve to 2-0 in the WHAC. Issac Grotenhuis took a pass from Jake Stanko and slid the ball past the Aquinas keeper in the 25th minute of play to put the Golden Eagles up 1-0. Grotenhuis added another 14 minutes later to put Cornerstone ahead 2-0. Grotenhuis won a couple of tackles in the offensive third of the field and then got in 1 v 1 with the GK and he slotted the ball under the keeper as he came out to close the angle of his shot. Matt Osorio
came close to making it 3-0 a few minutes later but the Aquinas keeper was able to push his shot over the crossbar. Neither team would have another really good chance through the remainder of the game. Cornerstone outshot the Saints 8-6 on the game. Cornerstone improves to 8-5 overall. The Golden Eagles will travel down to Livonia to play Madonna on Saturday.
