The Golden Eagles started well today and it paid early dividends when Heidi DeVries
headed in an Anna Stegink
corner kick in the 11th minute of play. Cornerstone played well early on pressed the Saints and earning three corner kicks in the first 20 minutes. The Saints got a goal back in the 22nd minute on a free kick from about 30 yards out. The teams went into halftime tied at 1-1. The game remain tied after the first half although Aquinas got off six more shots than the Golden Eagles. Aquinas won the game in just the 2nd minute of OT when a deflected ball bounced across the face of the goal and Matthea Brandenburg one touched the ball into the goal for the win. Freshman Tara Grasman
saw her first action in the goal in the second half and played well. The Golden Eagles will return to action on Saturday when they take on Marygrove College at noon.
