(Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) Cornerstone race walker, Janelle Brown competed in the IAAF World Race Walk Cup Trials race hosted by the Long Island Association of USA Track & Field.

The 10 kilometer course included some difficult hilly sections, which Brown handled well, walking nearly even splits the entire way. Lauren Forgues won convincingly in 51:06 ahead of a three way battle between Erin Bresnahan, Katie Burnett and Brown. "I was closing on them the last 1,000 meters," said Brown, I wasn't tired, but I couldn't go any faster." Bresnahan was second in 54:01, Burnett third in 54:19 and Brown fourth in 54:22. "If the race had been 11 kilometers, I would have been second," Brown said.

Teammate Katie Malinowski and Brown have been invited to compete in the 5,000 meter race walk at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, PA on April 25.
