The men's golf team opened up the WHAC season with a disappointing 7th place finish in the season's first Jamboree at the Highlands Golf Course in Grand Rapids hosted by Aquinas. Last year's team that won the WHAC tournament championship and qualified for the NAIA national tournament for the first time in school history a veteran team filled with seniors.
This year's squad has5 freshman, 2 sophomores and 1 senior. Cornerstone shot a 324 as a team just 2 strokes shy of 6th place Indiana Tech. Davenport won the first Jamboree shooting 295. Zach Mick
and senior Ben Vanbiesbrouck
were CU's top finishers placing 21st with a 79. Casey Vandenberg
and Kevin Yee
tied for 32nd shooting an 83. Chris Wisen
placed 40th out of a field of 48 with an 85. University of Northwestern Ohio's Matt Smith was the individual winner with a 72 on the day.
The Golden Eagles will compete in the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational Sept. 12-13.
