HOLLAND (9/3) The Cornerstone Men's Cross Country team began the 2011 season at the Hope College Vanderbilt Invitational. Heat and humidity resulted in slower times, but the Golden Eagles raced well putting three in the top fifteen.

Junior, Jared Courtright ran with the lead pack for much of the race and held on for sixth place in 26:51. Classmate, Travis Mabe worked his way up to eleventh, finishing the 8,000 meter course in 27:10 followed closely by freshman Thomas Bamabach, two places back in 27:24.

Louis Falland ran as CU's number two man through four miles, but succumbed to the heat with 600 meters to go. After briefly losing consciousness, the sophomore from Nuriootpa, Australia was treated and released by the Hope Athletic Training staff and EMT's.

Freshman, Jared Holmberg ran 29:31 in his collegiate debut and sophomore, Tyler Grey completed the team scoring in 23rd, clocking 30:06.

Albion won the meet with 24 points ahead of Hope with 37 and Cornerstone's 74. Muskegon Community College took fourth with 103.
