Michael Darling of Galesburg, IL graduated from Galesburg High School. (Galesburg, IL/ Galesburg HS). Coming to Cornerstone as a middle distance specialist, Darling helped guide his 4x800 relay squad to a 7th place finish at the IHSAA state meet. Darling's best time in the 800m is 1:59 and has also run a 16:21 3 mile for Cross Country. Darling was a team captain in both XC and T&F and won the team MVP award his senior season of XC.
Alex Macias (Lansing, MI /Haslett HS)
Macias is new to the Track & Field scene as he took up the sport his senior year of high school. Proving to be a fast learner, as well as fast runner, Macias earned his way onto the 4x400 squad and helped his team achieve an MHSAA Division 2 state runner-up finish. Macias relay clocked a Haslett High School Record time of 3:23.70 on the day.
Stephen Murphy (Rend Lake CC/ Madison Heights, MI)
After setting the MHSAA Division 2 State Record in the 400m (47.94), Murphy enrolled at Rend Lake Community College where he earned NJCAA All-American honors as a 4x400m runner. With two years of remaining eligibility, Murphy can help the 4x400 squad here at Cornerstone.
John Norris (Hamilton, MI/ Hamilton HS)
Coming to Cornerstone from Hamilton, Norris achieved honors as a thrower. An MHSAA Division 2 state qualifier in the discus, Norris has a career best throw of 144'11" in the event. Also helping the team in the shot put, Norris has thrown a best 46'9 ½". Norris has already begun work in the hammer and 35# weight throw, which will be two of his new events.
Logan Norton (Comstock Park, MI/ Calvin Christian HS)
A member of the Calvin Christian squad that took fifth place at the MHSAA Division 3 Championships, Norton contributed in the pole vault where he earned All-State honors. Clearing a personal best height of 14'8, Norton has also jumped 20'9 in the long jump which he will also do for the Golden Eagles.
Ross Raymond (Tustin, MI/ Pine River HS)
Throwing a career best of 53'4 in the shot put his senior year, Raymond elected to join his high school teammate, Haley Russell, and throw at Cornerstone. Raymond was a Regional Champion in the shot put at Pine River and qualified for the MHSAA Division 3 State Championships.
Tyler Steigenga (Holland, MI/ Holland Christian HS)
Running a 16:43 during his senior year of Cross Country, Steigenga earned All-Region honors and qualified for the MHSAA Division 2 State Championships. On the track, Steigenga will compete in the long distance events for Cornerstone.
Nathan VanderWall (Byron Center, MI/ Zion Christian HS)
Following in his mother's footsteps as a collegiate T&F athlete, VanderWall earned All-Conference honors in the Alliance League. His accomplishments include a personal best of 17:50 in the 5k and 1:59.78 in the 800m. VanderWall will compete in both Cross Country and Track & Field for Cornerstone.
