(Philadelphia, PA) For the second time in two years, Kris
Shear chopped blocks of time off the school record in the 10,000 meter race
walk. Both times he did it at the Penn Relays, one of the largest and oldest
Track & Field meets in the world.
The senior from Rockford placed fourth in 45:11.51, exactly
six minutes faster than his time at this meet in 2010. Shear picked up his
second mark from the judges with one lap remaining and held form over the final
400 meters, successfully avoid a third mark and disqualification.
Shear's time was also well under the qualifying time of
48:20.00 for the USATF Championships in June.
