Game 1 - Cornerstone University (11) Siena Heights University (2)
The Golden Eagles scored early and often in the first game of the double header today as they beat the Saints 11-2 to improve to 21-12 and 12-7 in the WHAC. Cornerstone scored a run in the first inning but Siena Heights responded with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning to tie the score at 1-1. The Golden Eagles broke it open in the second inning. Cornerstone scored five runs in the second inning. Tahni Bruno had a 2 RBI single and Melanie Creager hit a two run homer in the inning. Cornerstone added to that lead with two runs in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth inning. The game was called in the fifth inning with the Golden Eagles up 11-2. Melanie Creager led the Golden Eagle attack going 3-4 with 3 runs and 3 RBI's in the game. Jessica Kuhlman went 3-4 with 3 runs and an RBI in the game. Heidi Warmelink scattered five hits and improved to 16-7 on the year with the win.
Game 2 - Cornerstone University (5) Siena Heights University (6)
The Golden Eagles went down 3-1 after the third inning of game 2 but battled back to take a 4-3 lead after the fourth inning. Cornerstone extended their lead to 5-3 in the sixth but the Saints responded with two of their own in the bottom half of the inning to tie the score at 5-5. The Golden Eagles did not score in the seventh but the Saints filled the bases and scored to give them the 6-5 victory. Melanie Creager, Rachel Gruppen, and Lauren Pasciak all had RBI's for the Golden Eagles. Heidi Warmelink came in to relieve Madison Bucilla in the bottom of the seventh and took the loss on the mound.
