The Cornerstone Golden Eagles softball team continued their winning ways this afternoon by taking a pair of games against WHAC rival, UM Dearborn. In the first game, CU put together 12 singles and 5 stolen bases plus they used a strong pitching performance by Heidi Warmelink to win 4-2.Dearborn got off to a quick start. They scored 2 runs off of an error, followed by a triple, and a fielder's choice. But Warmelink shut them down the rest of the way forcing the visitors to hit the ball on the ground and, scattered just 5 more hits in the final 6 innings.Cornerstone took the lead for good in the bottom of the second by scoring 3 runs. The inning got started with a walk and was followed by 3 hits 3 errors and 2 key stolen bases, 1 each by Lauren Pasciak and Jessica Kuhlman. The Golden Eagles improved their record to 21-12 and 12-7 in the conference with the win.Warmelink improved her record to 15-7 with the victory.

Game 2 - UM-Dearborn (5) @ Cornerstone University (9)

The Golden Eagles were looking to sweep the double header against conference foe, UM Dearborn as Cornerstone's Madison Bucilla took the mound in game 2.She battled evenly against Dearborn's Sheri Koenig until the Golden Eagles erupted for 7 runs in the 5th inning. The big inning started innocently enough with a single by Lisa Peppel followed by strike out. Then Jessica Kuhlman also hit a single, but that was followed by the second out of the inning with a fly out.But the Golden Eagles offense exploded.Warmelink hit a single scoring 2.Then after two more singles, Rachel Gruppen doubled knocking in two more. That was all the run support Bucilla would need as she pitched 5 and 1/3 strong innings giving up 6 hits and just 1 earned run while strike out 2.She improved her record to 6-4.The win was the Golden Eagles' 9th in the last 10 games and improved their overall record to 22-12 and 13-7 in the conference.

CU will travel to Siena Heights to wrap-up the regular season on Saturday, April 30th.
