Game 1 - Cornerstone University (6) Davenport University (4)
The Golden Eagles started slow but gained momentum throughout the game as they went on to defeat #1 Davenport 6-4 in game 1 of the double header today. The Golden Eagles scored once in the top of the third inning, once in the fourth, twice in the fifth, and twice in the sixth inning for their six runs. Heidi Warmelink went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI's to lead the Golden Eagles. Rachel Gruppen had a hit, a run, and 2 RBI's and Tahni Bruno went 2 for 3 with a run scored. Lisa Peppel went 3 for 3 from the plate. Heidi Warmelink went the distance on the mound scattering 7 hits over the game and worked her way out of a seventh inning jam to close out the game. Warmelink improved to 14-6 on the year.
Game 1 - Cornerstone University (5) Davenport University (7)
The Golden Eagles started out well in game 2 scoring four runs in the first two innings powered by a three run shot over the fence in left center by Jessica Kuhlman in the second inning. Davenport kept pace by scoring three runs themselves in the first two innings. Cornerstone took a 5-3 lead in the top of the fourth inning but the Golden Eagles wouldn't be able to hold on as the Panthers scored two runs in the fifth and two runs in the sixth inning as they went on to defeat the Golden Eagles 7-5 in the second game of the double header. Heidi Warmelink went 2 for 3 at the plate with an RBI. Warmelink dropped to 14-7 on the season with the loss on the mound. The Golden Eagles will return to action on Wednesday when they travel over to play Aquinas.
