(Ypslanti, Mich.) The weekend began with the same poor weather conditions that have plagued most of the outdoor track season. Friday at the Eastern Michigan University Twilight meet was cold with rain and drizzle, but Saturday brightened and temperatures rose to seasonal levels. The Golden Eagles responded with season bests and two national qualifying marks.
Starting on Friday, John Klumpp took sixth in the 400 meter hurdles, bettering the NAIA provisional standard with his time of 54.49. Adam Duerksen was eighth in a personal best 54.95.
Saturday brought much better conditions yielding excellent results.
Isaac Cox took third in the 800 meters in a season best 1:53.57, improving his NAIA provisional mark. In the 400 meters Ryan Versen placed sixth in 49.74. Adam Duerksen improved his best mark in the javelin with a throw of 135' 2" good for ninth place.
The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Deurksen, Versen Cox and Zach Yeo put up the best time of the season. It took a dive across the finish line from the Michigan Elite anchor leg to defeat CU 3:18.38 to 3:18.41.
