The Warriors scored one run in the first inning after back to back singles and an Anderson double up the middle to take a 1-0 lead. In the second inning Tech scored three more runs on three hits and followed that up with a 5th lead-off homer by Megan Groce. The Golden Eagles threatened in the top of the 6th notching 3 hits but three runners were left on base. Heidi Warmelink opened the 7th inning with a single to the shortstop but CU was unable to score and finished with a 5-0 loss at Tech. Madison Bucilla struck out 4 batters and took the loss.
The Warriors started the second game just like the first scoring two runs in the first innings. Tech added four more runs in the bottom of the 5th to take a commanding 6-0 lead. The Golden Eagles rallied in the 6th beginning with a Warmelink single to shortstop and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Melanie Creager hit a two run home run followed by a Bucilla home run to left center field to score the third run and cut the lead to 3-6. CU couldn't complete the comeback and end the day with their two losses. Warmelink (7-6) struck out 2 batters for the loss. Cornerstone falls to 13-11 overall and 4-6 in the WHAC while the Warriors improve to 28-10 and 8-1 in the WHAC. The Golden Eagles will travel to UM-Dearborn on Thursday, April 14.
